(VSCB) - Currently, child abuse is happening frequently and continuously, becoming a serious problem of the whole society. This problem occurs with increasing frequency and severity, adversely affecting the living environment and children's right to healthy development. This is also an opportunity for the UN to recognize the pain that children have to endure as victims of violence.

Vietnam is one of the first countries in Asia and the second in the world to ratify the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1990. The legal system and policies to prevent and combat violence and child abuse in our country have been promulgated quite fully.

Many children in Vietnam now enjoy a high-quality life that the previous generation could never have imagined. However, there are still children and adolescents left behind by the impact of this dynamic socio-economic development and continue to live in the most deprived conditions in those areas: education, healthcare, nutrition, shelter, water and sanitation, or socialization, and get socially excluded. These growing disparities are influenced by ethnicity, gender, home town and disability. In particular, the poor often lack the ability to withstand shocks, while the pace of urbanization exacerbates the vulnerability of migrant families who have little access to social services.

 However, the published statistics of children suffering from violence and abuse are alarming. Cases of children being physically, emotionally and sexually abused by their parents, teachers and relatives have been discovered and exposed on the press, making the public very angry, at the same time, making the public more concerned about the degradation of moral standards and the absence of a standard educational environment. The phenomenon of violence against children in families and schools is currently a pressing issue and is of particular concern because of its increasing occurence.

Behind the physical pain is the emotional pain. Young children are not yet aware of many things in life, but they will live in fear and anxiety. In order to avoid child abuse, parents need to pay close attention to their children in all activities to promptly take measures to deal with abnormal signs in children.

The VSCB Certification Organization hopes that the information above will help families better visualize the unpredictable consequences of child abuse, thereby joining hands to protect children, especially their right to protection, love and care, and ensure the safety of children.
