(VSCB) - World Environment Day takes place every year on June 5. It is the United Nations' flagship day for promoting worldwide awareness and action for the environment.

Over the past few years, World Environment Day has become a global event, attended by millions of people coming from countries and organizations all over the world. With the theme “Reimagine. Recreate. Restore”; this year, the United Nations will also launch ‘UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration’ to prevent and reverse the degradation of ecosystems on all continents and oceans, help alleviate poverty, combat climate change and prevent mass extinctions.

However, the ecosystems are currently experiencing the fastest degradation rates in human history because they are under serious threats such as deforestation; water pollution in lakes, rivers and streams; dried out wetlands; and the degradation and overexploitation of coastal and marine areas.

To deal with this situation, on March 1, 2021, the United Nations General Assembly declared the period 2021 - 2030 as the "Decade on Ecosystem Restoration" to implement on a large scale the restoration of degraded and destroyed ecosystems to combat the climate crisis, increase food security, preserve water resources and biodiversity. It is high time all countries around the world joined hands and took steps to achieve specific and practical goals for the sake of our nature and mother Earth.

Vietnam was one of the participating countries in 1982. Since then, World Environment Day has become a nationwide movement, contributing to raising people's awareness about environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, sustainable development and response to climate change.

With various activities in environmental protection, VSCB Certification Organization joins hands to engage in activities on World Water Day, World Meteorological Day, Earth Hour... to help raise awareness of everyone about using energy economically and efficiently.
